Guangzhou City Construction College is the full-time regular higher vocational college approved by Guangdong Provincial Government and recorded by Ministry of Education of the State. Originated from Guangzhou Amateur Construction Engineering Institute sponsored by Guangzhou Construction Engineering Bureau in 1960, it was independently established based on School of City Construction of Guangzhou University in 2007. In 2013, the college passed the appraisal on talent cultivation work of higher vocational colleges in Guangzhou, and was awarded “Excellent College for Private Higher Vocational Education and Connotation Construction”, “National Demonstration School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education of Private Colleges and Universities”, “Demonstration School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education for Undergraduate in Guangdong Province”, “Demonstration School of Managing the University by Law in Guangdong Province”, and “Energy-saving Demonstration School in Guangdong Province”.

Located at Conghua District with nickname of “Back Garden of Guangzhou City”, the college has excellent conditions for running school, complete infrastructure, and beautiful campus environment, covers the land area of 1355 mu and total building area of about 420000 square meters; the library covers the area of 28000 square meters and collects more than one million volume of paper books and 20250GB of electronic books; it is equipped with informationalized campus system of kilomega backbone broadband network with exit bandwidth of 9G, as well as indoor stadium, standard playground with 400-meter plastic track, and large cultural and sports square. At present, the college has more than 18000 full-time students, and 9 secondary schools, including School of Construction Engineering, School of Electromechanical Engineering, School of Information Engineering, School of Economics & Management, School of Arts & Design, School of Foreign Languages & Foreign Trade, School of Humanities, School of Entrepreneurship Education, and School of Continuing Education, and offers 50 majors, including Construction Engineering Technology, Mechanical & Electrical Integration, Computer Application, Business Administration, Art Design, Business English, and Entrepreneurship Education & Management, etc. The major of Construction Engineering Technology is approved to be the national brand construction major and key construction major of Guangdong Province; the majors of Engineering Cost and International Economic & Trade, etc. are key construction majors of Guangdong Province; the two majors of Mechanical & Electrical Integration Technology and Marketing & Planning is approved to be the brand construction major of Guangdong Province. Thus, the college formed the school running structure of engineering courses based on six major clusters of Construction Technology, Construction Management, Advanced Manufacturing, Modern Service, Electronic Information and Art Design. And it has developed into a higher vocational college with unique characteristics of urban construction, large school running scale, and remarkable achievements in talent cultivation.

Based on the schooling philosophy of “running the school with quality characteristics and centering on student development”, the college focuses on connotation development, insists on the school-running orientation of cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents for city construction, and adheres to the talent cultivation mode of integration of production and education and cooperation of college and enterprises. Besides, the colleges has the teaching staff with reasonable structure and high level; among the professional teachers, those having senior professional titles account for 24.6%; among young teachers, those having degree of doctor and master account for 52.2%; the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is nearly RMB hundred million. There are 21 practical training bases and 288 practical training rooms established in the campus. And there are 195 practical training bases outside school established with enterprises, including such brand characteristic bases as the practical training base with financial support of the central government, provincial vocational education practical training base, students pioneer park, and practical training center of modern companies, etc. The college runs school by respectively cooperating with famous enterprises, such as Guangzhou Boyu Architectural Design Co., Ltd., Capol International Design Group, Guangzhou Zhongxing Network Technology Co., Ltd., Dongguan Wabisen Certified Public Accountants, and InterContinental Hotels Group, etc., and runs the “Ordered Class” with title sponsorship of these enterprises; the college carries out the pilot of cultivating mode of “modern apprenticeship system” with Guangzhou Hengsheng Construction Engineering Company, etc.; it establishes the School of Real Estate Management together with E-House China and Sina Leju Holdings, cooperates with Sina Leju Holdings to implement “Young Talents Cultivation Plan”, and establishes Tarena Design School together with with Tarena Technology Group to provide direct channel for practical training, internship, and employment for students. What’s more, the college positively organizes students to participate in national and provincial skill competition to promote study by competition, and positively brings in international high-quality educational resources, selects and sends student to take part in overseas training courses to broaden their horizons. The cultivation quality of graduates of the college are widely praised by the society, and the employment rate is kept above 99% in successive years; in 2015, it reached 99.8%. For outstanding achievements in school running, the college obtained special financial incentives of the provincial government in successive years.
